Always keep an open mind
Hey class, I hope everyone had a good weekend. When I was thinking of what to write for this blog I started thinking of the whole "back to school" mentality and how sometimes it can be a drag. So if you'd like my advice, I think the best thing to do is not let yourself get trapped in the grip of the college madness. I say this because we all know how easy it is to let our lives (during the semester) dissolve down to just class, homework, and midterms. While a strong and focused work ethic is necessary to succeed, I believe a rejuvenated sense of "fun" is just as necessary to maintain focus. With this in mind, I say finish your homework and study for your test first and then get the heck outside and allow yourself to return the years when you were just a kid. Go exploring, go on an adventure, get a friend in your car and just drive without a destination in mind. Get out and do something crazy that you thought you'd never do (something that wont land you in jail lol). Something that has helped me through my four years in college is a frequently updated "bucket list." Write down all the things you want to do during college and post them up on your fridge, desk, dashboard, or whatever. Just looking at a list like that will hopefully drive you to actually get out there and start checking things off. For one last thought, I leave you with a quote by Hunter S. Thompson who said, "Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting 'holy shit...what a ride!"
