Moving on

We have completed our project #2. Time to move on with the new stuffs from Flash, and project #3, and a research paper(what a nightmare.....). I really hate to write essay, but since it's a requirement, i have to do it :p

Project 2

Well just like some other students, project two was a complete nightmare. I originally thought it was going to be easy to do, but this project took a lot of work and time. For the most part the most frustrating thing about project two was setting up the div tags, and setting up the alignments. I thought everything was fine and set up correctly at first, but then when its opened up in the browser you come to realize that its not where its suppose to be. In addition to all of this I realized that it is extremely critical to pay attention to the resolution of the screen you are working with and I realized this a little too late. Today I was looking over my project and realized that the way I seen one of my links on my monitor looks completely different on the school monitors, the good thing is that it only happened with one of the links. Well I am glad that project 2 is something in the past; it was a project that was challenging and through trial and error I obtained a better understanding. Today’s exercise was fun and interesting and I am ready to learn more about Adobe Flash.

Project 2

I was happy with the final look of project 2 until I opened it test it on the Firefox browser. The images were spaced out vertically. Professor Anderson said it may be the way Firefox or I.E. reading the AP elements as links. I'm going to try over spring break to adjust it without destroying it or having to start all over. Is anyone familiar with this problem or has anyone ever heard of this?

I wish we had more time for project 2 but I am looking forward to project 3.

Excersise 9

Also, I would like to say that I really enjoyed exercise 9. It was a refreshing, fun assignment to take my mind off the project 2 stress. I want adobe flash to play around with it all the time.

Project 2

I didn't realize that the deadline for this project would catch me off guard. I was so far behind working on it. I pretty much did the majority of work on the day it was due. Whew. For our final project, I need to work on it A LOT more and manage my time wisely. Even though I had a minor freak out while doing this project, I thought it was really cool and it turned out pretty good. Im going to start brainstorming for the final project now!

Project 2

Project two was pretty agonizing to work on. I had trouble lining up the AP Elements on the pages at different resolutions. The only thing that really bugged me about AP Elements was going into the behaviors window and setting the show/hide settings for each AP Element. Overall, however, I really did like AP Elements because they add more style to a website than regular HTML.

all hell is breaking loose... i missed class last thursday... and the project is past due. i have a lot of work to do tonight. it feels like i am keeping up mostly, but appearently i am falling farther and farther behind all the time. i don't even realize when the quizes are due, there are no reminders and they just pass by without me noticing. some reminders would be nice...

well, its time to buckle down and get to work. i have some catching up to do!

Project 2

Wow, what a nightmare Project two was, specially the last two days i had left to work on. The past two days before the project was due were a nightmare, my div's were'nt showing up after i had specifically made them disappear and appear whenever you rolled over them since i was using a div over another div. It was confusing at first but i eventually worked my way through the whole process. Project two was challenging and a nightmare at first, specially walking into the door and noticing the 5MB limit. When i had opened my working folder i noticed that it was 150 MB and panicked. But they were all my working images and files. One thing i came open figuring out was centering the div tables. You need to go into its properties and set it alignment text to center, make its right and left margins auto, and set the div position to relative. It was tricky at first to get it working right. But overall Project 2 was a very challenging project.

I also did not get project 2 done the way I wanted. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but even after I got the programming worked out, it still took a lot more leg work just putting it together than I had thought it would.
The 5 meg limit also threw me off as I had not planned for that. But that makes sense, you can't make a website too big or it won't load up well. Well, good practice.
And I didn't realize how big an animated gif can get if you don't pay attention to how you put it together. Well, I know now :P

Second Project

Well Project 2 was due this past Thursday and I did not manage to complete the assignment on time. While reading what other fellow students wrote I read one entry that I agree with 100%. When creating/designing a website one has many possibilities to design it the way they want. In this course we have gone through several exercises that have taught me a lot, and all this acquired knowledge has just added to all the possibilities. Katie stated it perfectly “However, now I feel as though my brain has been overloaded with such a variety of choices that I don't even know where to begin with it all.” While working on the project I could honestly say that I was too indecisive. I would constantly be making little changes and at times I restarted the whole project because I would have a new idea and at one point I had to restart from the very beginning because my computer crashed (this past Monday). This project taught me a valuable lesson and that is to save your work twice (on the pc and in a flash drive or external hdd just in case). Overall this project has been fun and challenging. Now that I have failed to meet the deadline I have until Tuesday to complete the assignment.

Project 2

...I'm not quite sure where to begin with how I feel about this project.
I am always very excited upon every new assignment, especially ones that include creative exploration... I have had hundreds of different ideas - small things, little techniques, newly acquired skills and even the application of principles learned in other courses.
However, now I feel as though my brain has been overloaded with such a variety of choices that I don't even know where to begin with it all.

I am still very excited for the end product of this project and all associated exercises - though I do have plenty of work to still do prior to its completion.

It seems like everyone has tremendously excelled leaps and bounds from our initial html exercises - just from the surrounding views I have seen. I cannot wait until all have been sent in!

Now that I am finally getting the hang of dreamweaver, I don't want to move on to the next thing; I'm just so ecstatic in the knowledge I have from this!

Project 2 update

My diligence has paid off! My project 2 is coming together and I am just about finished. I had fun and learned alot from exercise 7 and have a few tricks up my sleeve. It feels good when you see your work pay off and everything comes together. So, until next time....

Excercise 6 and 7

New technique had been introduced from exercises 6&7. Rollover was really cool, i will add it on my project#2. I'm working on project#2 but still have some difficulties with the design. Need to work harder.

if you can't dazzle them with brilliance...

....baffle them with BS.
- ancient Irish proverb

I notice some guys have a bit of creative block for pjt 2, or aren't sure exactly what to put into the web site.
I also wasn't sure how to flesh mine out, so I took a creative liberty.

Amongst other things, my website will cover how I fight zombies.
We all gotta have a hobby right?

C'mon, it's an art class. Let your imagination do it's thing.

Rollovers

Creating rollover images was very exciting because it is a big change from simple text boxes in HTML coding. Rollover images are also very exciting to look at and gives a webpage much more style. Exercise 7 was interesting to work on; I always thought that it would be extremely complicated to create a show/hide website. However, after working on it on Dreamweaver it became so simple.

I think I'm getting there

At first, I was quite confused about project two. I didn't really know how to proceed when I was to come up with an idea for the website. Since I'm used to being given that information by someone else, not doing it entirely from scratch myself, this was a new concept for me. But when I spent some time thinking on what to do, I realized it would be possible putting something together. I hope my idea won't be too complicated to actualize.

Project 7

Project 7 is exactly what i was trying to do for my next website. I love the style of just staying on the same page but the only thing changing are the tables that you want to change. I'm glad we got to this Exercise before we needed to turn in our Project 2.

project 2

Is anyone else having a creative block for project 2 or is it just me? For project 1 it all just came to me so easily and I put it together in no time...and LOVED IT! But for some reason my creative juices are lacking. Ihave a few ideas but none that are sticking or really going anywhere. I call myself starting early but i'm still lagging in my productivity. However, something tells me all will work out sooner or later. Hopefully, for my sake, sooner than later.

Exercise 6

Exercise 6 was pretty cool got to learn some fancy things like rollovers. I'm really getting the hang of dreamweaver and glad we don't have to hand code everything , makes you appreciate the program knowing that you don't have to code every table or font etc. I joined in the protest last thursday it was interesting....although i hate to say it but some students appeared to just be band wagoning the march....some kids were disrupting classes by opening the doors while instructors were conducting classes and that got pretty ugly...i'm all for protesting, but don't disrupt classes that your supposedly protesting about....if they wanted to participate they would you know?....ironically those same kids who were causing problems were the ones that got arrested from what i saw in the paper...

Project 2/protests

I am having a hard time deciding what I want to do. I have a rough sketch, but I feel like it is not what the assignment is asking for. Hm, hopefully I will get some good feedback from the professor whether or not I am going in the right direction or not.
On another note, I went to the budget cut protest last Thursday and it was crazy. At first it was just students gathered in the Oviatt lawn chanting and then giving speeches. It got crazy when all 2,000+ people started to march through Reseda, Nordhoff, Zelzah, and Lassen. Traffic was shut down and people were all over the place with cops close by. I left after the march, but I saw pictures of the crowd getting ambushed by the police. It looked intense and I am glad that I didn't stay any later.
Anyways, hopefully Exercise 6 will be helpful and easy. :D

Project 5

Project 5 was really fun. I enjoyed making the webpage we had to do in class and making my own the very next day. I began to add other sounds to the background to make it seem as if you were in the environment. One thing i would suggest to everyone is if you are adding a table border to your page, put the table outside the table you are working on.

Excercise 5

I finally finish Excercise 5, and wow, was that a mission lol
@ first it was a bit confusing with slicing each image in photo shop,
but as step by step u get the feel for things, and things come to you easier
and more clearer =]

Exercise 5

Dreamweaver is harder than it looks. I assumed that with some basic HTML knowledge Dreamweaver would be easier to understand. I tried editing the height of images by a couple of pixels or so on Dreamweaver but it's not noticeable when you refresh it on the Dreamweaver page. It isn't until you open it up on a web browser that you would notice these changes more drastically than on Dreamweaver. Although, I do like the concept of being able to create hotspots and linking everything directly on Dreamweaver. I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone else but Exercise 5 was the most difficult for me to work on.

Project 2

It's about that time for me to start working on project 2. Haven't been feeling all that well to give these exercises and projects 100% but It's time for me to snap back into it and get these projects and exercises done. I can't let not feeling good take over me not getting assignments completed ON TIME.

~Rikki Bentley

Project #2 ideas

Time to do some brain-storm for project #2, but my mind still empty zZzZz..
I had some ideas few days ago, but i dunno where to start on dreamweaver so i have to put it on aside.
I hope i can find a good idea this weekend so i can start to work on the project #2

Project 5

Though it was pretty tough, I think it was pretty fun to see the way slicing works to help
break down a picture and cut down on loading time on a site. I can definitely use this for the next project. I was actually thinking of putting in a big collage on one of my pages but now I can try slicing for the page.
This next project seems really difficult, especially for the beginners. I hope my site looks halfway decent.
-Philo Leung

Dreamweaver and Project 2

It was my first time using Dreamweaver and I was amazed how convenient it is...
Now that I can use html, dreamweaver, and photoshop (not very well but at least a little bit)
I'm so excited to work on project 2. Still brainstorming exactly how my project is going to be but I'll test some ideas and decide!

Slicing in Photoshop

This technique for slicing images in Photoshop really made sense to me. Previously, I've always been extracting parts of an image piece by piece, using the marquee tool. The slicing tool seems to be more handy, since Photoshop is doing most of the work.

Project 2

I feel like for this project I have a lot of ideas, but can't make it happen because I am a beginner with photoshop. Even though Professor Anderson went over the basics of photoshop, most of it went over my head. Hopefully I can figure it out as I go because I would love to make my ideas work.
