This is kind of cool

After trolling the 'net for a while, I came across a cool little ranking scheme. It's a periodic table of the elements for the fonts most popularly used on the net! I'm not sure how accurate it is, but table could be very helpful for those of us who want some variety on our websites but don't know what fonts are web safe.

Very cool.

Project #2

I was thinking about the class on thursday and I think this time it is going to be much harder than the frist project, since I am not familar at all with photoshop. The introduction to photoshop helped me a little bit to understand what it is about and how to use it but I think if you do not have the time and program to practice, it is going to be very difficult and time-consuming. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to the class where we present our projects.

Class Today

I missed class this morning because I had to spend it registering for my "Writing Proficiency Exam". It is what determines my graduation this semester. I hope I am proficient...Anyone able to fill me in on what I missed? When is the exercise due? What did you guys think? Any helpful hints? - Alan Fassonaki

Mac to PC, PC to Mac

I'm concurrently taking CTVA 361 and ART 201. We're pretty much learning the same things at the same time. In both classes, we learned HTML and then followed by Dreamweaver. I have a PC at home where as in ART 201 we use a Mac. The problem I'm most worried about is working on our assignment in class and editing at home or vice versa. I had a classmate in CTVA 361 who uses a PC at school but a Mac at home. When she created her website using TextEdit, she opened it up on the PC and her HTML were all in one line. All of her breaks she had in her TextEdit was ignored on a PC, making it difficult to organize any of the tags. Is there a way we could save the file on one computer without changing any of the content when opened in another computer? Or is there a way we can open the file up without changing it?

HTML 5

Just stumbled upon this website w listings for differences b/w the new version of HTML, which is supposed to be released this year, and the previous one. There is quite a few goodies among the tags, such as tags for embedding video and audio streams, drawing figures and time representation. One can only imagine what the websites utilizing this new version will look like.

Project 1 Critique

Last Thursday was the day that I missed out on a great learning experience. I am upset at the fact that I chose to leave class because I could not do what was asked of me to do. As soon as I heard that we would have to stand up in front of the class and talk about our website I started to get nervous. Then I hear that we would have to critique a classmate’s website and that is when I ran out the door. I could not see myself as a criticizing someone’s work when I was not very proud of my own work. I later found out that I completely misunderstood the whole critique aspect. It was not about pros and cons, it was more about suggestions and positive feedback. I would have realized this if I would have stuck around, but since I just left I failed to see how other students were doing the critique. In addition to all of this I am extremely shy and if given the opportunity I would avoid all presentations. It is extremely nerve racking to stand up in front of a group of students and I honestly would chose not to do it, but in this case it is necessary to learn and get back feedback. If anyone has any helpful tips to get rid of the nerves I would love to hear them.
