Well, I've used MSPaint back in the day, and then I used JASC PaintShop Pro 8 for a time...which was basically Photoshop.
I didn't start using Photoshop in-depth until CS3, with only some minimal playing with CS2 before then. So I'm quite recent to the user-base. But I'd say...at least in terms of the other software mentioned above, I'd have to go with Photoshop.
I have some friends who use GIMP, and while they appreciate its zero-cost, they do acknowledge its limitations.
